Jessica's First "Boy Call"

Oh Dear! I thought I would have YEARS before I had to start this AGAIN! ;-) Tonight, right at bedtime, the phone rang. I didn't recognize the number and when I answered the kid asked for Jessica. They were kind've stuttering around and I was confused and I asked who it was. Not hearing their answer, I said "is this Jade?" He said"no, this is Paul"............OOOHHH...my BAD! I thought it was a girl! So I go up to her room and ask her if she knows somebody named Paul. She quietly says "yes...." "why?" and I handed her the phone. She was pretty surprised and I left her room so she could talk. I hadn't been downstairs but maybe 1 minute when she came down and gave me the phone back. (that in itself was a miracle!) She says "that was a SHORT conversation!" Dad and I laughed and I asked her WHO had called her? She says coyley "it was Paul....he's my friend." "but I don't play with him very much" so I ask "why'd he have your phone number then?" She flops back on the couch, face turns a little red (although it was hard to tell cuz she'd been playing with her play makeup and had looked like Jezebel at dinner), she sighs "cuz he aassked me fooor it" (that's all drawn out in wispy speech) Doug and I are having a really hard time not laughing now, poor girl. So she dives behind the couch and we finish our conversation there. (maybe that was cuz I got the camera out since she looked so cute) anyway....I ask "so the next time he calls then I suppose you want me to tell him you don't want to talk to him?" She answers" whatever, I don't care" I say "you DON'T?" "you don't want him to ever call you again?" She stops for a second and says "oh. Well, never mind then" "Never mind what?" "Never mind telling him I don't want to talk!" and she ran upstairs. So I called Autumn to let her know that little sister had gotten a phone call from a BOY! We were laughing and planning a cruel joke (Autumn was going to call the house phone and pretend to be Paul) when Jessica came downstairs for something and I said "wait, come here" She came over and I handed her my cell phone. She looked confused and asked who it is. I said "Paul", she looked very baffled and embarrassed and cautiously said "hello" and Autumn started singing "2 little lovers sitting in the tree..K-I-S-S-I-N-G......." she hadn't got too far when Jessica's face turned red and she said OOH, I am NOT listening to THIS! and held the phone at arms length where she couldn't hear her. It was really funny. Then she put it back up and we heard her say "he is NOT my boyfriend! Somebody else has a crush on me"........looks like there might be more phone calls coming soon. Please let us pray. :-)
